2010 Season Review
This season started off with help from Vicious Cycle, PSSR, Motorex, Woodcraft, Bridgestone, and Lockhart Phillips. I needed help all year and all of my sponsors stepped up. I couldn’t have finished the season without their help and I can’t thank them enough.
Everything was in place this year to win races and championships. The suspension had been fined tuned the year before. The new strong superbike motor was installed and mapped. I was getting faster and knew I had my best chance since I started racing to win.
The year started in the wet and cold, which benefited me all year. In the past I haven’t done that well in the wet but this year everything clicked in the rain. By the end of the season I felt very confident in the rain and won multiple races in the rain. The wet weather helped me a few times during the raining 2010 season. I started the season strong in May with two wins and two second place finishes. The first wins in my career.
In June my new motor failed during the morning practice. The crankshaft split and the new motor was replaced with the spare motor. The spare motor is down about 15% on power and has three plus racing seasons on it since its last tune up. Sometimes racing is about your commitment and doing the best you can with what you have. When the crankshaft split, we changed out the motor in two hours trying as best we could to make the start of my next race. Unfortunately, I missed the start of the race by five minutes.
In June and July, I missed two races because of the motor failure and won only one of the four races I started with my spare motor. Because of that, I spent the rest of the season chasing the championships from behind.
After July, Vicious Cycle started to get the superbike motor repaired to finish out the season. They worked up until the night before the August race getting the motor repaired and installed. The rebuilt motor helped bring home two more wins and a third place in August.
In September and October, I won two more races and was able to claim the Middleweight Superbike Championship.
With all the obstacles we faced this year, I wasn’t expecting to win any championships. In the end, it was possible because of the hard effort put in by Vicious Cycle and all of my other sponsors.
